A Little Background on This Community

Part of the Research Triangle metropolitan area, this 8.3-square-mile community was originally named in 1852 after Jeremiah Morris. He donated land to the North Carolina Railroad for a depot, water tower and other buildings and the communities continued to grow around that.

The community earned a place in the history books when the Battle of Morrisville took place here on April 13, 1865.

But it wasn’t until 1875 that the town was officially chartered. Although it disincorporated in 1933, it was re-chartered in 1947.

  • Crabtree Creek Nature Park, a 34-acre wooded and wetland site with a multi-purpose field
  • Ruritan Park, which includes a gazebo, open areas, and sand volleyball courts
  • Indian Creek Greenway and Trailhead, which includes two picnic shelters, a playground, restrooms, and a 1.8-mile trail
  • Cedar Fork District Park, which encompasses 37 acres that includes eight multi-purpose fields
